Tavy Ronen is a Professor of Finance at Rutgers Business School, Rutgers University, where she also serves as Associate Director of the Whitcomb Center for Research in Financial Services and as the founding Director of the Center for Business of Fashion and the Business of Fashion Programs. She has previously held faculty positions at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business, New York University’s Stern School of Business, and the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Professor Ronen is an expert in financial economics, with particular expertise in market microstructure, corporate bond and credit markets, equity market structure, informational efficiency, asset pricing, valuation, and damages. She has served as a testifying and consulting expert in securities class actions and other complex disputes involving equities, corporate bonds, and other credit instruments, and has provided expert reports, deposition testimony, and trial testimony in U.S. federal and state courts as well as in Canadian proceedings. Her consulting experience also includes advising the American Stock Exchange on the design of its opening and closing trade mechanisms and advising the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on trading mechanisms in the utility industry. Professor Ronen is a member of the Economic Advisory Committee of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and a Director of Ronen Economics.
Professor Ronen’s research spans empirical market microstructure, the informational efficiency of equity and corporate bond markets, credit markets, behavioral finance, and the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence to financial markets, including pioneering work on the informational role of images in financial decision making. Her work has been published in leading journals including the Review of Financial Studies, Management Science, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, the Financial Analysts Journal, the Journal of Financial Markets, the Review of Accounting Studies, Contemporary Accounting Research, and the Journal of Banking and Finance, where her research received the Iddo Sarnat Award for best paper of the year. She is co-editor of Essays in Microstructure in Honor of David K. Whitcomb.
Professor Ronen received her Ph.D. and M.Phil. in Finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University and her B.A. in Economics from Wesleyan University.
