Professor Brian Phelan is an expert in labor economics and econometrics. He is an Associate Professor of Economics and Driehaus Fellow at the Driehaus College of Business and a Visiting Scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. He has previously been retained as an expert, submitted an expert report, and testified at deposition in a matter involving the economics of noncompete agreements in the healthcare sector.
Professor Phelan’s research largely focuses on trends in the low-wage labor market and how these trends affect employment outcomes for low-wage workers. His current research work includes projects related to the impact of automation on low-wage jobs, the labor market effects of occupational licenses, and racial discrimination in the labor market.
